The 1830 census is similar to the 1840 in that it gives the name of head of household and tally marks for the rest of the members of the household in age groupings separated by gender.
Levi Daniel is listed in the census among other names of interest including the surnames Scaife and Bishop which, according to the unverified information I posted about yesterday, include siblings of Louisa (Louvica).

Hi, I'm also a descendant of Levi DANIEL. I have a different interpretation of 1830 census. I agree with the males: John (1828), unknown (1815/1811) & Levi (ca 1803) but I believe that Joseph BISHOP (ca 1810) [brother to Louvica] is also listed. I agree with Louvica (1807) but think that Louvica (ca 1827) [daughter of Levi & Louvica] & Sally DAVIS (ca 1812) who married Joseph Bishop on 20 Jan 1828 in Clay Co, IL is listed in 15 to 19 years.
ReplyDeleteI realized I didn't explain my reasoning for my comment. John BISHOP (ca 1785/1794) father of Louvica (1807) died between Jun 1828 when he was to be notified by the sheriff to serve on Grand Jury of the 9th Oct 1828 (Clay County Court Records 1825 - 1845 transcribed by Clay County Genealogical Society; page 33)[don't know if he served] & 16 Nov 1829 when his widow married Thomas Whitely. In the 1830 census of Thomas Whitely I find spaces for the rest of John's children. But could not find the newlyweds Joseph Bishop (ca 1810) & Sally DAVIS therefore I concluded they were living with Levi DANIEL (ca 1803) & wife.
