I was going through the images I took while at my grandma's and came across the obituary for Lora B. Daniels Barksdale (taking the wind out of my previous post). The clipping was in my grandma's childhood bible and the information verifies what I found on the SSDI. Barksdale Mrs. Forrest (Lora B. Daniels) Barksdale, 79, of Iuka, sister of Robert Daniels of Decatur, died Thursday afternoon (April 29, 1980) in Salem Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were 2 p.m. today in Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home, Salem. Burial is in Iuka Cemetery. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
I came home from my Grandma's house with a good sized stack of old family group sheets. I've been looking through them over the past few days and have come across tidbits of helpful information.
Tonight I was able to take some of those tidbits and solidify some information from my grandpa's sister, Lora Blanch. The family group sheet gave me the name of her husband, Forrest Barksdale (which sounds familiar so I probably already had the info written down somewhere -- the curse of disorganization). I did a search in the Social Security Death Index on http://www.familysearch.org/ and came up with a definitive hit for both Lora and Forrest! This information will make it possible to get their work done.

I was also able to locate Lora and Forrest in the 1930 Census taken April 16th in Stevenson Twp, Marion County which gives their ages as Lora 29 and Forrest 31 and their ages at marriage as Lora 24 and Forrest 27. They have a 1 9/12 year old daughter listed with them. The family group sheet has a penciled in marriage date of 28 Jan 1926 and the census info does not conflict with this date.
I went ahead and quickly did census searches for Forrest Barksdale. He is fairly easy to find with his unique name and limiting the location to Marion county Illinois. He is listed with his parents Louis and Effie in the 1920 and 1910 censuses. In the 1900 I find his parents, three older siblings, and a "Carson" born Aug 1898. I think it is fair to assume they are one and the same, either a middle name or a change of name.
Arthur Thomas Daniels and family in Omega Twp, Marion, Illinois (same as 1920 Census). Again he gives his mother's birthplace as England, interesting.
On the same page is a family that has the same surname as Ellen's maiden name Alderson. There is likely a connection between the two families. Ellen's parents are actually living in Omega in 1910 and can be found in the Census 3 pages later.

Arthur Thomas Daniels and his family in Omega Twp, Marion, Illinois. Arthur gives his parents as both being born in England. I don't believe his mother (Edith Adaline Daniel) was. Also the second daughter is listed as Helen which was her middle name, her first being Frank or Franke. (Odd I know.)
